How do I find the serial number on a Sea-Doo jet ski?
The serial number or HIN (Hull Identification Number) of a Sea-Doo jet ski or Sea-Doo jet boat is very easy to find. It is located on a black plate that is approximately 15 cm long and 2 cm high.
In all cases, it is attached to the outside of the vehicle at the rear on the right-hand side and is usually clearly visible. Serial numbers generally start with CA-YDV.. etc. Older Sea-Doo vehicles may also have numbers starting with ZZN... or CA-ZZN...You can derive a lot of information from the number, such as the year of manufacture of your Sea-Doo jet ski or Sea-Doo jet boat. The model year is always indicated by the last two digits of the serial number. The month and year of manufacture are located immediately before them. The HIN of the Sea-Doo jet ski or Sea-Doo jet boat is usually sufficient for searching for spare parts.

You can find another number on the engine block; this is the engine block serial number, or E.I.N. (Engine Identification Number). This is not important for searching for spare parts. It becomes important when checking whether the engine has received a replacement block. Check your CE declaration of conformity to see which numbers have been assigned since 2008 for Sea-Doo jet skis and since 1998 for Sea-Doo jet boats. Both the Rotax engine number and the HIN are listed on this document.If neither number is still present, it can generally be assumed that your vehicle has been tampered with or even stolen. When purchasing a used vehicle, always check whether BOTH numbers match your CE declaration of conformity or whether there is an invoice from a specialist workshop documenting the replacement of an engine block!
