At the heart of the R400 is the naturally aspirated V10 with 5.7 liters of displacement and the deep-breathing Mercury Racing Quad Cam Four Valve (QC4) technology. Four valves per cylinder, Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC), and a specially tuned intake manifold ensure maximum airflow – the result: performance you can feel instantly.

Exclusive 92-mm throttle body – instantaneous throttle response

The exclusive 92-mm throttle body unit was developed specifically for Mercury Racing. Combined with the heavy-duty servo motor and a high-precision fuel pressure sensor, it guarantees instant, linear throttle response and optimal power delivery – even under hard acceleration.

Sport Master Gearcase: Race-proven, semi-surface-piercing gearbox for boats over 85 mph – with low-water pickups, an optimized leading edge, and maximum efficiency.
5.44 HD Gearcase: Ideal for heavy bay boats and multi-engine setups, it offers more transom lift and optimal control during semi- or fully submerged operation.
